Opening for Amanda Palmer & Jason Webley!

Great News. I will have the enormous pleasure to play a few songs, opening for Amanda Palmer & Jason Webley in Prague. The gig's at Palac Akrpolis , Wednesday May 5th 7PM . HURRAY!

Meanwhile, we're in a distant studio (ex-mill building) with the illustrious Mlynarski Plays Mlynarski (Janek Mlynarski, Piotrek Zabrodzki, Kuba Galinski, Marian Wroblewski, Wojtek Traczyk, Jose Manuel Alban Juarez!) - recording an album which will be out on 10.10.10 (meaning - this October). Songs of Wojciecha Młynarskiego, arranged in a wild, wild variety of ways - we're recording almost entirely live, it's going to rock. More about that soon!

The nearest album premiere, however is the BAABA KULKA! Tribute Iron Maiden record. Finally recorded, and ready to go out to you as a CD + DVD combo. In JUNE! Get ready!

In other news, apparently I just won the Fryderyk award for vocalist of the year. Um, cheers.

Please take a look at the upcoming shows, there's a lot of new ones. Together with Robert Rasz & Wojtek Traczyk we will open for Suzanne Vega twice! Very excited!

Chorzow gig cancelled

Dear All,
On account of today's tragedy, the concert in Chorzow is, obviously, cancelled. You can return tickets in MDK Batory (we will probably come back to Chorzow in early June, and will see you then.)

I will let you know about the status of our upcoming shows as soon as I find out, in the meantime we're all recovering from the shock.

London, Baaba, Chopin....aaaargh!

Great news! May 15th I am playing the Cargo, in London. Let all your UK homegirls and homeboys know! I am SO looking forward to that.! (Melissa Auf Der Maur playes there on April 17th... yeah!)

In other news:
Today is the day the new, excellent Baaba album , 'Disco Externo', hits the stores in Poland.

I wrote the lyrics and sung all the vocals on track number 6, "ThingsImNot(Over and Over)", which makes me very glad, and I recommend the whole album, not just for my humble contribution to it. You can easily order it HERE
Our complete collaboration with Baaba (as Baaba Kulka - the tribute to Iron Maiden) will be out in June as a DVD (live) + CD (dead) package.

In the meantime:

Polish Phonographic Academy's Awards - Nominated!

The Polish Phonographic Academy has nominated both our 2009 albums for the Fryderyk award! Both "Sleepwalk" and "Hat Rabbit" have been nominated in the Best Alternative Album category, and I've been nominated in the Female Vocalist of the Year category. Thank you very much. Also Bogda Kondracki has been nominated for the recording and production of "Sleepwalk". Marcin Bors, who produced "Hat Rabbit" has a number of nominations for other albums this year, which also makes me very happy!

Kucz/Kulka at radio 3

Tomorrow, at 8 pm (CET) we will be playing live at the Polish Radio Program 3. You can listen online as well: http://www.polskieradio.pl/sluchaj/play.aspx?p=r3 ! We will play as Kucz/Kulka and will present the entire "Sleepwalk"album and some additional songs.

I would like to thank everyone for attending the Hanne Hukkelberg concerts in Cracow and Warsaw, in such great numbers. It was amazing - great job, Front Row Heroes, for organizing all this, I was honoured to open for Hanne.

It appears that I have been nominated this year for Polityka's Passport (Paszport Polityki 2009) in the 'popular music' category. Hurrah!

Tomorrow (Saturday12 th december) I'll see you at Forty Kleparz i Cracow, wehre I will play with Robert Rasz - songs from "Hat, Rabbit", "Out" and many more! tickets 20pln, we start at

Still in the old year, we're having the following shows:

- Next Saturday (dec 19th) I'm taking part, once more in the Kingdom of Music concert (a concert of songs from Disney movies, with visuals from the films, an orchestra and singers) "Królestwo Muzyki" will play 3 shows that day, so make sure you get the tickets to the hour that suits you best.
taking part in the great Dick4Dick sonsert, Maciek Szupica aka Wet Dick Junior aka the director of my video to 'Niejasnosci' is leaving the band and we'll be celebrating his time in D4D. The stage will be full of former Dick4Dick members (heh) and also Anna Patrini, Czeslaw Mozil, the band Gowno and...well, myself. It will be great fun. We're playing athe Parlament club in the old town.

2010 i s already shaping up to be exciting. Many Kucz/Kulka shows but also quite a few surprises. On Jan 21st and 22nd I'm teaming up with Jerzy Rogiewicz (from the trio Levity) to play support at the Warsaw and Cracow concerts of Hanne Hukkelberg which is terribly exciting! More news soon!

Mad Trojmiasto Weekend number one is over. We came, we saw, we played at Top Trendy festival, we uploaded the video, and POLSAT took it down. Whatever. Soon comes Mad Trojmiasto Weekend number two: in the shape and form of the international music festival Heineken Open'er. We'll see you on Friday at 9pm at the Tent Stage. We'll be playing in a more numerous set up: with backing vocals (Mela Koteluk and Ola Chludek), bass-clarinet (Waclaw Zimpel), various percussive instruments (Emi Barabasz) and maybe even a surprise guest!

The Ucho gig went very well, this Sunday, thank you for showing up in such numbers! Piotrek went a little crazy this time around, do excuse him - it must be the sea air, or something. Anyway, no more mic for this lad, thank you very much. There are some really nice pictures from the cocnert, though:

We held our first ever Twitter competition and a couple of copies of "Out" went out to people, based on a completely fair, analogue, wholesome manner of drawing bits of paper out of a hat. So keep your eye on Twitter, there will be more contests!

Dear all, thank you for listening to the Radio 3 concert online, or by any other means you managed to hear it, if you did. We had a wonderful evening, and a lot of memories surfaced, and made our eyes well up, well, just a little bit. We played the Radio 3 hall two and a half years ago, and it was one of our FIRST gigs together. Actually, I think it was the first time Piotrek played guitar with me, because I do recall playing a few shows with Rasz and Kornel as a trio, but if I remember correctly, upon hearing that he's going to play with me, Piotrek attempted to cut off one of his fingers, and so we had to play without him. Fortunately for us, the finger healed for the radio 3 gig, and so the poor lad had no choice. So, yay for radio 3.

The coming weeks look to be pretty exciting:

This Thursday, in Jazzpoint (Zlote Tarasy, Warsaw) Raalya, aka MY BAND... will play a gig. With guests. Ok, with A guest. In short, I will not only cheer them from Table 1, but will also join them onstage for a couple of songs. You are VERY welcome, and you don't have to love sushi, just love Raalya (although I've heard there's some honest to goodness sushi at Jazzpoint.Thursday, June 18th, 9 PM

Friday the 19th at 10PM I will be the guest of Makak at Antyradiu . I am taking my keyboard along, and I will play a few songs on the air.
Next Saturday June 27th I will be joining Jan Mlynarski and his band, performing at the 100 year anniversary of Forest Opera in Sopot. We're going to play the immortal classic "Jestesmy na wczasach".
And the next day, Sunday June 28th, we're playing with Raalya at Ucho club, Gdynia.

Thank you SO much for coming to Stodola. You were incredible. It appears that neither the size of the venue nor the sheer number of those in attendance can prevent the feeling of intimacy and familiarity - not with an audience like YOU! Thank you.

The coming week will be quite eventful:

On Monday June 8th we will appear in Dzieńdobrytvn the TVN breakfast tv - the program runs from 8:00 to 11:00am, Kornel and me will be ther near the end of the show, say, between 10:30 and 11:00? Watch the Twitter!).
Tuesday June 9th we're off to Poznan with Robert Rasz. First at 4pm there will be a meeting and a signing at the Empik, then at 8pm (ok, mebbe a little later) a concert at Dragon.
On Thursday June 11th we're off to Elblag with the whole band (8:30, the courtyard of the Elblag Museum).
On Sunday, June 14th, we're playing at Radio Program 3! You can listen on the air and online, or attend in person at the Agnieszka Osiecka Studio in Warsaw.

June 27th in Sopot, I will join the Mlynarski plays Mlynarski project onstage, during the concert celebrating Opera Lesna's 100th anniversary.
We already know the date and time of our Heineken Open'er concert It's July 3rd, 9PM, the tent stage..
Changes: our OFF festival appearance has been rescheduled from August 7th to 8th. Calendars out! The Strefie Inne Brzmienia (Lublin) concert will be subject to change (as in: both date and place will change, we are sorry, but we're waiting for a word from those in charge)

Gaba at Heineken Open'er (and radio 3)

We're just received the news that we will play at this year's Heineken Open'er festival! HUZZAH! Beyond fabulous. I'll post the details as soon as I get them. This is going to be a great summer, between OFF festival, Open'er, concerts in Warsaw, Lublin, Elblag and Gdansk.

Tomorrow at 11am I'll be Piotr Baron's guest at Polish Radio Three. You can listen online.

The plejada website has a little interview with some dark circles under my eyes. Wonderful. I'm sharing my thoughts on the album, Leszek Kaminski, Queen, Czeslaw and many more!

As you have noticed, you can leave comments, if you so wish, to any of these little news entries. So far I've been called a fruitcake and I'm proud of it. Come on, tell us what you really feel!

It's been a while since I had so many good news to communicate:

As you can see, we've had a complete and utter redesign of this space. A few things are still to be added, but basically - here it is.
"Hat, Rabbit" will be out on May 4th here in Poland. You can listen to the first single, "Niejasnosci", on Myspace). Here you can listen to 3 whole songs and samples of all the others. There will be more soon on myspace as well.
You can pre-order in major Polish online stores. You can also order a special, limited set of CD + incredibly awesome T-shirt sized S-to-XXL
Onet.pl is showing the"Niejasnosci" video! It will be in other online places in a few days.

Last, but not least - last weekthere was the premiere of Reni Jusis' new album, 'Iluzjon' - I wrote the lyrics and sang with Reni on one of the songs, "Osiem minut". You can listen to samples of the whole album on Reni's Myspace.
